Animal Control Program

The Austin/Travis County Health and Human Services Department’s Animal Protection program defends threatened animals from abuse or neglect. They also work closely with law enforcement to contain or help aggressive animals that threaten the community. This program serves city of Austin residents as well as Travis County residents who live in unincorporated areas of the county.
To report public safety concerns or ask questions regarding the animal protection program please call 311 if you live in the city of Austin or 974-2000 if you reside in an unincorporated area in Travis County.
